And does this person add their positive status to the app?If you have been near someone who later tests positive for coronavirus, and that person adds their positive status to the app, you will be sent an notification via the app.

If you receive an notification, it means you have been near someone who has later tested positive for coronavirus. Don’t panic: this doesn’t mean for sure that you have coronavirus too. It means you have been in a high-risk situation: you could have been infected with coronavirus.

What happens if you test positive for coronavirus?

This is how the CoronaMelder app can help to stop the spread of coronavirus.

This is now possible in the Netherlands, but also in other countries because CoronaMelder is compatible with similar apps in other EU countries. These different apps work together to send notifications to people who live close to the border, for example, or people visiting the Netherlands because they live here, work here, or are visiting the Netherlands for a holiday or shopping trip. This means that you will know sooner if you have been close to an infected person who uses a coronavirus app from another EU country.
